The Lime Camino

Viborg has its own Camino that passes the area's two limestone mines, which gave the Camino its name. The Lime Camino is a beautiful hike of approximately 30 kilometres that leads you past both limestone mines and further into the area through bogs and past Kongenshus Heath. The route is marked with white arrows and blue signs with bat symbols.

On the Lime Camino, you will encounter large limestone deposits, thousands of bats in the mines and peat digging, which has characterized the region's culture for centuries. The hiking trail tells the story of the cultivation of the heath and about the potato Germans on Alheden.

You can start your trip along the Lime Camino in Stoholm or Skelhøje, which have accessible connections to nearby towns.
